Having gluten intolerance can make your scalp dry and scabby, which causes a lot of discomforts. There could also be the presence of visible flakes on the scalp, which is embarrassing. The first step to treating this condition is by getting rid of gluten in your diet. 

Aside you can also try the following treatments to get a clean and moisturized scalp

  • Get an organic shampoo and conditioner: To treat your scalp, it is necessary to use natural products when washing and conditioning your hair. Products slathered with chemicals can only worsen the condition.

  • Avoid gluten hair products: Use gluten-free hair products only to wash and care for your hair. 

  • Apply tea tree oil: Applying tea tree oil to your hair can help treat the scalp. This oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that treat irritations caused by gluten intolerance. Add tea tree oil to your shampoo when washing the hair; you can also dilute it with coconut or any other carrier oil. Leave for 35 minutes before rinsing and conditioning. It is important to dilute tea tree oil with a carrier oil to avoid further irritation of the scalp.

  • Use apple cider vinegar: Apple cider is another treatment for the inflamed scalp. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that will soothe the itchy scalp. You can do this by mixing equal parts of vinegar and water, then use a cotton ball to dab the mixture directly to your scalp for soothing relief.
